Wolf Hall & Bring Up the Bodies

by Hilary Mantel and adapted for the stage by Mike Poulton

Award-winning hit on the London Stage

Based on the novels by Hilary Mantel, the play traces Henry VIII’s agonizing journey through three marriages as he tries to produce a male heir to the English throne.  The story is told from the point of view of Thomas Cromwell, the man who engineered the annulment with Katherine and the trial of Anne Boleyn.  Cromwell rose from obscurity to become the second most powerful man in England.

There are 21 male roles and 5 female roles in the plays, presented together.  Characters include Cromwell, Henry VIII, Katherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Princess Mary, Cardinal Wolsey, Thomas More, Thomas Cranmer, and many others drawn from the pages of history.
